Managing Soreness and Discomfort at Home
During the first week after your braces are placed, and following routine adjustments, some soreness and discomfort is normal. This typically results from your teeth and gums adjusting to new pressure as your treatment progresses.
To help ease this discomfort, we recommend acetaminophen or another non-aspirin pain reliever, taken according to the package directions. A warm washcloth or heating pad held against the jaw can also help relax sore muscles and reduce general jaw soreness. If soreness continues beyond a few days or becomes severe, contact our Payson office so we can take a closer look.
