When to Reach Out Right Away
Most orthodontic issues aren't true emergencies, but they still deserve a phone call so our Trapnell Orthodontics team in Provo can advise you on what to do next. Calling us first, rather than waiting until your next scheduled visit, gives us a chance to set aside the right time to address the issue properly and comfortably.
It's easy to feel unsure about whether something warrants a call, especially if it's your first time dealing with a loose bracket or a sore wire. As a general rule, if something about your braces or aligners feels off, painful, or different from usual, it's worth reaching out rather than waiting to see if it resolves on its own.
If you already have an appointment on the books and something comes up beforehand, let us know ahead of time so we're prepared to handle it when you arrive.

Situations Worth Calling Us About
- Loose or broken components: A loose band, bracket, or broken wire on your braces should be reported right away.
- Clear aligner issues: Problems with your Invisalign® or 3M Clarity aligner trays, or any part of that treatment, are worth flagging as soon as you notice them.
- Wire or appliance pain: If a wire or other part of your orthodontic appliance is causing discomfort, call us. We can often give guidance over the phone or schedule a visit if needed.
- Broken or lost retainer: This needs prompt attention, since going too long without a retainer can affect your results.
- Running low on wax or rubber bands: We can restock you, and wax is also available at most drugstores in a pinch.
- A lost separator: Replacements are easy to provide, just give us a call.
